Imagine the slack, dry tongue lingering past the sparse assembly of grey teeth as it peruses lips and bristly upper lip stubble in search of crumbs. Consider the faint rasping sound this might make, against a backdrop of the slight passage of air past a heavily nodulated glottis and re-runs of game shows turned way down but never turned off.
